The Poetics of Survival and Change, a Free Black Dirt Event

  • Moon Palace Book Club 3032 Minnehaha Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55406 United States (map)

Free Black Dirt presents a poetry reading inspired by Octavia Butler's book, Parable of the Sower and its offerings of 'God is change', escape, preparation and survival as expressed through the limitless imagination of Octavia E. Butler.

Tish Jones, D Allen, Lisa Marie Brimmer, Maitreyi Ray (Ma Ra), Junauda Petrus-Nasah and Erin Sharkey will offer survival poetry and their skill sets for existing in the future.

What are the insights and wisdoms coming to you in your dreams? What are you packing for survival? What change are you shaping and what change is shaping you?

This Earthseed event is happening in anticipation of Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower, Concert Edition, written by Toshi Reagon and Bernice Johnson Reagon, coming to O'Shaughnessy Theatre April 26th.
