Bi+ Picnic and Hike

  • Hiawatha Statue 4801 South Minnehaha Park Drive Minneapolis, MN, 55417 United States (map)

Do you want to celebrate the beginning of spring by sightseeing and hiking with your friends? Come join Bisexual Organizing Project-BOP for our hiking meetup on Sunday, April 28! We will be visiting Minneapolis's 50-foot Minnehaha Falls and hiking a scenic trail that follows Minnehaha Creek into the Mississippi River. We'll start off with a picnic from 1pm-2pm at Hiawatha Statue right next to the falls before we begin our hike. We'll be bringing snacks, and feel free to bring your own food if you want! (Please notify us if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.)

To get there by car, park at the parking lot to the east of Godfrey Circle, and walk about 500 feet south to the statue. To get there by public transit, take the Blue Line to the 50th St - Minnehaha Station, and follow Minnehaha Dr northwest about 1,000 feet, turn right at Minnehaha Park Dr, and the statue should be just after the loop.

The Minnehaha Falls trail is a 1.7-mile hike over flat terrain and should be doable by people of all ages. The trail begins with stairs and is not wheelchair accessible, but our picnic area by Hiawatha statue is wheelchair accessible, so all our welcome to join us regardless of walking ability!

Liability Waiver. By participating in this event, you agree to be responsible for your own safety and hereby release Bisexual Organizing Project - BOP, it’s organizers, event hosts and members, of any responsibility or liability of any nature whatsoever for any loss of property or personal injury to yourself occurring during a Bi+ Walking Club event or any related activity.

Bring water, snacks, clothes for weather, proper walking shoes, sunscreen/bug spray.
